Mutuel Play employees let their hair down a bit to attend the EAG conference at ExCel, London on the 18th January 2017. The trip had two primary goals, firstly to give everyone the chance to see the latest retail pub fruity, AWP and SWP games and secondly, to sample the latest arcade games.
Mutuel Play is in the midst of developing some new online games with a view to converting those games for retail and it was a worthwhile exercise reviewing the latest content from the likes of Projectcoin, Blue Print, Reflex Gaming, Electrocoin, Astra, EntNet and many more. Rhys Owen, Director had this to say about the games on offer, “I’m a big fan of old skool pub fruity’s having played them a lot when I was younger. Things tend to move a bit slower in this area compared to video slots but I suspect there’s a lot of innovation happening in the back end. I was particular impressed with Ace Technology’s three C category games linked via a B3 feature reel on top. It is great to see disruptors thinking of ways to enhance the gaming experience for players whilst giving licensees more £500 jackpot machines.”
The team also participating in the Sega Olympics where they pitted themselves against one another in ‘Archery’ and ‘Sprinting’. Rhys took victory in both events before crashing out early in the Daytona race by accidentally going into the pits.
Krishna Gurung has today joined Mutuel Play to work alongside Paul Spencer on the front end development of the games portfolio. Krishna and Paul have worked together at GECO in the past with great success having developed Geco/Playtech’s ‘Double Juicy’ game, which is a top performer on The Sun Bingo.
Rhys Owen, Director at Mutuel Play had this to say on Krishna joining, “Krishna and I worked together at GECO and I was impressed by Krishna’s determination to deliver and appetite to learn. He’s still young and I feel he has a lot to offer a new start up company like Mutuel. He has also done some app development in the past, which I feel will prove valuable to us as we expand our portfolio.”
Kerim El-Hakim has today joined Mutuel Play to lead the design of a number of projects. He has worked in the gaming industry for quite a number of years and his experience will be invaluable to Mutuel in it’s early stages. Kerim led a number of platform revolutionary projects at Virtue Fusion/Playtech most notably the design of their new reactive Tablet and Desktop HTML5 bingo client.
Rhys Owen, Director at Mutuel Play had this to say on Kerim joining, “Kerim always impressed me whilst at VF/Playtech with his ability to lead and manage a project from concept through to delivery. He has a knack for delivering exactly what is right for the consumer. In this infant stage of the start up I know I can rely on Kerim to take hold of a project and take the design lead. He’s a very talented designer and knows the industry well, I couldn’t have found a better person to join the team.”
Paul Spencer has today joined Mutuel Play as the first ever employee alongside Founder and Director, Rhys Owen. Paul has a vast amount of design and front end development experience in the gaming sector from his time at Dynamite Ideas which was acquired by GTech and then at GECO Gaming. Paul built a number of front end components within the GECO framework including a seamless wrapper for all the development partners as well as some great content.
Rhys Owen, Director at Mutuel Play had this to say on Paul joining, “it’s fantastic that Paul has put faith in me to join Mutuel Play as it’s first employee. Paul and I worked together at GECO Gaming and I was impressed by how well he and Krishna delivered Double Juicy on time and with little or no issues. That gives me great confidence that the underlying code he is producing is robust and decent. What’s great is I know he has so much experience in gaming that I can let him get on with it and I just make sure all the pieces of the puzzle align to not hold anything up.”
