Rhys Owen | Director
Rhys has over 12 years experience in the gambling sector both in retail and online having worked for Gala Bingo halls, Gala Coral Interactive, Virtue Fusion, Playtech, GeoLotto, Bede Gaming and Geco Gaming before founding Mutuel Play Ltd.
Rhys has helped launch a number of gaming products in the market from bingo games, casino games and back office tools. He still loves getting involved in New Product Development and Mutuel Play Ltd is his opportunity to bring his ideas to life.
Rhys studied Business at the University of Portsmouth where he achieved a 2:1 back in 2004. He also happens to support Portsmouth FC and is hopeful they will one day reach the previous heights of premiership status and FA Cup glory back in 2008. Rhys likes to keep active by playing football, golf and ‘pub sports’.
Rhys is married to another industry veteran, Lucy Owen, who is Head of Account Management and a Commercial Director at Playtech and have 2 children together
Paul Spencer | Senior Developer
Paul has worked in the online gambling industry for over 13 years for companies including Dynamite Idea, Boss Media, GTech and GECO Gaming before becoming Mutuel Play’s first employee in 2016. He is looking forward to making use of his design and development background and building a portfolio of great games for Mutuel Play.
Paul is a keen football fan and is looking forward to watching Liverpool win the league this year after too many years of disappointment. He is, as all game developers should be, a huge Star Wars nerd, likes his music loud and loves to travel to exotic destinations.
Paul is married to Jenny and has two young children Alex and Suki. He is very tired but very proud.
Krishna Gurung | Developer
Before joining Mutuel Play, Krishna worked for Geco Gaming, Ash Gaming and Playtech. He loves various challenges and enjoys getting involved with new technologies.
Krishna holds a Computer Science degree with first-class honours from University of Portsmouth. He enjoys playing tennis, golf and experimenting with IoT products.
Kerim El-Hakim | Senior UI/UX Designer
Kerim has experience in multiple design disciplines. Graduated from the Lebanese American University in Graphic Design and minor fine arts with the highest achievement award at the 2005 jury. Kerim also finished his post-graduate studies in Digital Media at the Hochschule Bremerhaven, Germany in 2008.
After graduation, he joined Sportingbet in London, UK and was the designer for the Hungarian regional manager. At Sportingbet he revolutionized online betting advertisements by turning website banners into games where teams were updated according to the next scheduled matches though Google’s doubleclick.
In 2012 Kerim joined Playtech, where he lead the design team and helped transition the business from Flash to HTML5. Kerim led the design of the new tablet and desktop user interfaces, creating a flexible template for the bingo client and side games to speed up the upgrade to HTML5.
Throughout his career Kerim has been always eager to explore different mediums and styles, while at the same time always researching design related technologies, and learning new applications to achieve the best results for the target user audience.
At Mutuel Play, Kerim is currently leading the user interface design of several solutions we are building out across various platforms for games and other commissioned projects.
István Kovács | Developer
Istvan has been developing software for many years, and has around 4 years of commercial experience from various industries. He has been interested in programming since he got his Commodore 64, and loves tinkering around with computers. In his previous jobs, he has mainly been working on C/C++ and PHP projects, but has now switched focus to the front end using React and Redux.
He is born in Sweden with a Hungarian background. While living in Denmark, Istvan finished his B.Sc. in Computer Engineering in 2005 from the University of Southern Denmark. In 2001, he moved to the UK.
Istvan is married to Izabella, and they like to spend their free time in nature, travelling to new places, listening to music and watching movies.
